Short Bio:

Dr Angela Osei-Bonsu is a Specialist Paediatrician at the Paediatric Neurology Unit of Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, with certification from the Ghana College of Physicians and Surgeons and the West African College of Physicians.

She has a passion for Child health education and advocacy and coordinates numerous child health advocacy projects through engagement with local and international organizations; currently serving as the National Secretary for the Paediatric Society of Ghana and as a fellow of the International Paediatric Association’s Child Health Emerging Leaders Programme (IPA-LEAD) with the Yale School of Public Health- Global Health Leadership Initiative. Her clinical and research interests include non-communicable diseases in Africa, with focus on interventions to improve the care of children with neurologic and neuro-developmental disorders and is currently directing a project, in collaboration with the Special Education Department of the Ghana Education Service- Ashanti Region to identify and standardize referral pathways for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder in the region.

Dr. SAMUEL BLAY NGUAH

Profile

I am a Senior lecturer at the School of Medicine and Dentistry and an honorary Senior Specialist affiliated to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH). I have special interest in Pediatric Cardiology and have worked over the years to establish a Pediatric Cardiology unit at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital.

I have also contributed immensely to the development of the treatment guidelines and protocols used in the directorate of Child Health. I have over many years served in various capacities at KATH including the being the Chief Resident and Lead Clinician. Apart from my usual bedside clinical teaching in pediatric cardiology for medical students, I also teach residents in West African College of Physicians, Ghana College of Physicians, Emergency Nursing Student form KNUST and Ghana College of Nurses.

In clinical research, I have served in capacities ranging from Principal Investigator, Co- investigator, Data manager and trial statistician with well over 40 published articles in varied peer reviewed journals.

DR. JOHN ADABIE APPIAH

SHORT BIO:

Dr John Adabie Appiah is a Senior Specialist, Critical Care (paed) at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, Kumasi Ghana. He holds fellowship in critical care (paed) SA and MPhil in 2015 (UCT), Masters of Science Strategic Management and leadership among others. He is currently the Consultant Case Management Sub-Pillar lead of COVID-19 Case Management for WHO/AFRO leading the WHO’s Clinical Care aspect of the response to the Covid-19 pandemic.

He is involved with mapping of existing capacity to manage patients with COVID-19, capacity building in health care facility, oxygen production capacity, guideline development for COVID-19 management and technical assistance to member countries since February 2020 with WHO Headquarters.

Dr Appiah has been practicing cild health specialist the past 18 years with vast experience in resource limited settings both rural and urban populations. A paediatric intensivist by training he set up the first Paediatric Critical Care unit in Ghana. He has special interest in children with critical illness and injuries and is involved with quality improvement in the health care settings especially in ICU.

Dr. Eugene Martey is a member of the Ghana College of Physicians and Surgeons. He is the Chief Resident at the Directorate of Child Health – Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital. Also, he is a Paediatric Epilepsy Trainer with the British Paediatric Neurology Association – BPNA. He has experience in Paediatric intensive care as well as Paediatric Epilepsy.
