Personal Bio:

I am a versatile General Surgeon who continually seeks opportunities to expand my surgical skills and scope of service delivery, medical training, and research. I hold a Bachelor of Science in Human Biology and a Bachelors of Medicine and Surgery (MBChB) from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Ghana, a PhD in Palliative Care Medicine from Lancaster University, UK, and an International Surgical Training Programme Fellowship in Vascular Surgery at the Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust in London. I have great experience in local and collaborative research - having worked on projects with the University of South Carolina and the NIHR Global Research Unit on Global Surgery in Birmingham, UK. I am passionate about medical education, and developing contextually relevant surgical care systems to deliver quality surgical care through education, research and effective collaborations.

Short Bio:

Adam Gyedu is an Associate Professor at the Department of Surgery, School of Medicine and Dentistry, KNUST, and the General Surgeon at the University Hospital, KNUST.

He is a member of the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons; and the International Surgical Society. He is the Vice President of the Ghana Surgical Research Society, a surgical society aimed at improving surgical services and research in Ghana, and the President of Green Baobab LBG, a non-profit that provides medical and surgical services to the poor and underserved in Ghana.

He is a member of the Kumasi Injury Research Group with interest in improving research capacity to reduce the burden and consequences of injuries in Ghana and West Africa. He is an accomplished researcher with over 60 peer-reviewed publications, a regular speaker at various scientific conferences and workshops in Ghana and abroad, and a reviewer for several local and international journals.

DR. NANA AFIA NSUA BOATENG

Emergency Physician Specialist

Short Bio:

Dr. Boateng is an Emergency Medicine Physician Specialist and the Head of Department of the Emergency Department of the Greater Accra Regional Hospital, Ridge, Accra. She is a product of Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology-School of Medical Science (KNUST-SMS). She did her residency training in Emergency Medicine at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital and interned at the University of Michigan and Hurley in her final year of residency.

She is an adept medical practitioner with thirteen (13) solid years of practical experience. She is dedicated to exemplary patient outcomes and follows necessary medical procedures to ensure the best with evidence-based practices. She has the willingness to work with all members of the medical team. She listens to inputs to improve results and maximizes patient satisfaction. She has outstanding leadership abilities to manage and has made GARH EMD one of the most talked about department currently.

DR. AKOSUA KWAKYEWA ASIEDU-ASANTE

Emergency Medicine Physician Specialist

Short Bio:

 I am Dr. Akosua Kwakyewa Asiedu-Asante, an Emergency Medicine Physician Specialist, currently working at the Accident and Emergency Unit of Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital. Akosua has worked at the unit for the past 8 years as part of a team and also led teams to achieve a common goal of delivering prompt, excellent and quality care to our patients. 

She is currently pursuing fellowship in Emergency Medicine. She also enjoys imparting the knowledge and skills acquired to other colleagues in the health sector.

Akosua is interested in engaging and participating in activities or programs that promote the health care needs of the people especially in Emergency Care and also research in that sector.

DR. DOMINIC KONADU-YEBOAH

Short Bio:

Dr Konadu-Yeboah is a Fellow of the Ghana College of Physicians and Surgeons as well as of the West African College of Surgeons. He has an Educational Fellowship in Orthopaedic Surgery, University of Utah Orthopaedic Centre, Saltlake City, USA. Dr Konadu-Yeboah has an Educational Fellowship in Arthroscopy and Arthroplasty from Appollo Hospital, Hyderabad, India and also an OrthoCarolina Fellowship from Carolinas Health Care Centre, Charlotte, North Carolina, USA. He has an AO trauma fellowship at the University Hospital, Basel, Swizerland. He holds a Masters Degree in Public Health. He is a Senior Lecturer of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology. Dr. Konadu-Yeboah is a Senior Specialist and the Head of the Directorate of Trauma and Orthopaedics, Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital. He has won several awards and has membership of many professional associations. He loves to read, swim and listen to gospel music.

DR. IRENE MAMAA FOSUA PRAH

Short Bio:

Dr. Irene Mamaa Fosua Prah, is an attending emergency physician at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital and a member as well as a Fellow-in-training in General Emergency Medicine with the Ghana College of Physicians and Surgeons. 

She is involved in research with works in Emergency medicine.

Dr. Maxwell Osei-Ampofo is a product of the School of medical sciences of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology and also an alumni of the Delta International University of New Orleans and the University of Toronto, Canada. He is a member of the pioneer class of residents in 2009 to start training in Emergency Medicine through the Medical Education Partnership Initiative(MEPI) at the Ghana College of physicians and Surgeons in Collaboration with the Ministry of health of Ghana, University of Michigan, KNUST, National Ambulance service and KATH.

He holds a Clinical Fellowship in Emergency Medical Services from the University of Toronto, an MBA(Management) from the Delta International University, an MPH from School of Public Health, KNUST and a Fellow of the Ghana College of Surgeons(EM). He is currently the Deputy Chief Executive officer of the Ghana National Ambulance Service and former Head of Emergency Medicine Directorate at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital.
